These images are from a project I recently worked on—a feature film titled " The Snow is Singing" that explores the political and psychological trauma of over one hundred thousand Bhutanese refugees. The film delves into the brutal torture, massacres, and forced evictions they endured, shedding light on the profound impact these experiences had on the mental health of the parent generation, which continues to affect their descendants today. This was my second experience working as an art director on a feature film, collaborating with my talented TAG group members. Happy Home Studios produced the film in collaboration with Theatre Village Nepal and Gau Studio USA. Written by Bimal Subedi and Joes Pandey, and directed by Bimal Subedi, cinematography by Chin-en Gau, and the editing by Nishan Ghimire.

Sunne Ghar Series

Since last year, I have been actively working to deepen the understanding of socio-political and cultural issues within the Bhutanese refugee community in the U.S. through various forms of art. The program I lead has no conventional format; it is designed to be fluid and adaptable. We have organized events in diverse settings—from theater stadiums to open farm fields—each chosen to suit the occasion. To date, we have successfully completed the seventh series, exploring a range of genres. Our next program, the eighth series, will take place on March 2nd, 2025, in Cleveland, Ohio. It will feature a renowned female writer from the Bhutanese refugee community, currently based in Cleveland.
